This was my first attempt at investigative journalism. Picture this. First semester freshman year of college. English 125. I'm given the assignment of investigating a quesiton about the world.

I was terrified.

Invest myself in a controversial topic and subject myself to readers' harsh opinions? I was not...thrilled to say the least. I tend to like avoiding heated subjects. But I let myself explore the concept a little bit and finally found a topic I genuinely was curious about: Ben & Jerry's and Stucchi's on State street, two competing ice cream stores and their ability to survive ecnomically besides being adjacent to one another. I started drafting.

And then I fell in love with investigative jouralism.

The article became a mozaic embedded with quotes and statistics and questions, held together with the narrative of a personal quest for answers.

I present to you:

Investigating Two Ice Cream Stores
